MAP CASE (TUBE)

Copper over tin with brass fittings. 18 x 3.5" (45 x 8.5 cm). Brass handle, lid hinge, lock hasp and loop are all held in place by handmade copper rivets which are hand-peened. The copper patina is outstanding. In fine condition for an object of this sort.   $275.

This was found in a veteran's post in Pennyslvania. It is most likely of  military origin and possibly from the Civil War. There are no markings on it. Judging from its condition, it is unlikely that it saw action.
